I recently found myself struggling with the lighting challenges posed by gray skies and short days, and turned to black and white in hopes of capturing the scenes that would otherwise be drab and boring.  An amazing thing happened when I looked for black and white shots because it changed my focus for subject material.  Instead of looking for color play, I needed to find something that can tell its own story with texture and contrast.  What I found was old buildings and side streets in my own village with a quiet nostalgia that a color photo would smother.  I hope you enjoy this look at a simpler world as much as I enjoyed finding it.
